I had a few suggestions for topics that should be incorporated into EPFILM I think would be of great use.

1) General Discussion- A discussion topic that includes all aspects of filmmaking and is not limited to specific content,

2) Student Film-makers-A topic geared to high school and collage film students or newbies interested in learning film/video and aspects of the business.

3) FAQ- a topic which will allow people to browse for answers to oft asked questions without feeling intimidated about asking an elementary or "stupid" question as they may feel it is (Though NO question is stupid)

4) Off Topic- A loose topic where film makers discuss topics not necessarily directly related to film making but may have relevance to the community or individual

5) Special Effects, Models, props and VFX- A topic dedicated to techniques for special effects, special effects make-up and special effects cinematography as wll as CGI and computer enhanced imagery and model and prop fabrication.

6) Film processing, DI and Telecine- A topic that is fairly self explanatory

7) Sound for Film- A topic geared to the OTHER half of film production, sound acquisition, Foley, sound FX and film score.

8) Film crew discussion,- a topic for all film crew disciplines Camera, camera assistants, gripping. lighting, continuity, costuming, hair and make, location managers, transportation and catering and all aspects of crew work.

9) SUPER links, links to all that is film making

10) Cameras-a discussion on all things camera divided into film, digital, HD, lenses, matte boxes and filters (all under lenses) and cranes dollies, tripods, steadicam rigs and various supports along with batteries, power supplies, geared and fluid heads, spreaders, cables and any other rigs used in photography all under the sub-category Camera Support.

11) film projection-The oft most forgotten aspect of the film industry while being one of the single most important.

I would further recommend Pre-production, production and post production be condensed into a single category topic called Production with Pre-production, production and post production as sub categorizes that open when the main category is clicked on. I would also condense local production into a single topic heading rather than an entire section.

I ALSO would recommend this be treated as a professional forum made up of professionals and those who wish to become professionals and as such everyone be required to use their real name. and change their user name to their real name. This would discourage flames and problems on the forum.

I feel these changes would encourage new forum members from more disciplines to join EPFILM and give everyone a voice while keeping the topics easier to manage and creating an atmosphere of professional behavior, decorum and conduct while posting. I hope EPFILM will SINUOUSLY consider these recommendations and act on them. cool.gif

1) Sounds like a good idea but don't SPAM it.

2) Everyone is a filmmaker regardless if they are students.

3) The Search function works just fine.

4) God Bless the Internet?

5) Post-Production Category.

6) No.

7) Production Category.

8) Any Category.

9) Read EpFilm's front page sometime.

10) Sounds like a good category.

11) No.

- Local Production should stay as they are since each experience is different and its a great resource for everyone to read so there is no reason to hide it.

- "Do unto others, as they would do unto you."

- Anyone can join EpFilm at any time. This is a professional forum despite a few members who act un-professionally at times.

I know there's a feedback section, but how about setting up a sort of 'reward' system within members, like, if you review someone's script, they review yours in return etc. I'm sure some ppl are doing this already, but if it were set up more specifically I believe it would encourage more ppl (most who wouldn't normally communicate with each other) to offer each other constructive feedback, rather than good job or i liked it, even if we do all love to hear those things about our work.

1. Perhaps a Login section on the homepage?

2. Being able to upload a bigger picture than the one currently allowed

Everything else seems dandy, keep up the great work! That goes for rest of ya' too!
